New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2021 – Collina Strada Gives Fashion Transformative Powers

Known for environmentally-conscious collections, fashion brand Collina Strada, created eye-catching styles made of recycled and deadstock fabrics for FW21. The digital presentation for the NYFW was about morphing into our new selves in a period of crisis and isolation.

The collection was created during the pandemic when people often felt like transforming into their inner spirit, delving into their primal identities, dealing with survival itself. Yet the collection has beautiful colors and motifs lifting our mood.

Designer Hillary Taymour teamed up with the illustrator of the Animorphs book series, David Burroughs Mattingly, and creatives Charlie Engman and Freeka to come up with graphics that turned the models into various animals including frogs, cats, and peacocks.

The unexpected layering of textures and motifs creates avant-garde silhouettes that feel comfy. On our way out of our home shelters, an imaginative outfit seems to be the perfect vehicle. Humor and resourcefulness are part of this collection of statement pieces.
