The Chelsea Grays FW21 collection is referencing police brutality, protesting, coronavirus, voting issues, and other issues that took place around the world. Casting light on those issues by using images from older eras as inspiration to reference what took place in 2020. Each garment is made with specific intent to represent the different issues that plagued 2020 but with the historical approach. The collection will not be complete without the staple mix of prints and patterns that are signatures to the brand. It includes an array of different crafty elements, fabric manipulations, and screen printing, to show an artistic expression. These manipulations assist with keeping the rugged aspect of the garments. The result has an overall militant aurora with utilitarian details. Everything comes together to showcase a mix of draped and structured pieces. The wool, cotton, silk, and satin garments find a balance between light and dark with the mixed media garments spotlighting the contrast seen in 2020. Chelsea Grays is definitely among the rising talents in the local fashion industry. The creations are pure and intriguing!
