New York Fashion Week February 2021 – Jaw-Dropping Upcycling by Monse for Spring 2021

Out of necessity, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, designers for Monse Maison, took leftovers – wool, cotton, and more from their previous collections and turned them into the most luxurious streetwear you could imagine, one that feels more like day-to-evening showstoppers, not actually streetwear, but still super cool and refreshing. Downtown girls and basically women who love fashion will crave to wear these creations, full of exciting signature asymmetries, unexpected fabric combos, and an avant-garde attitude. These belong to the house’s Spring 2021 collection created according to the industry feedback they got from the buyers in September, last year. As a result, it was a minimum-waste collection, but the main purpose was to nail it in terms of design. In this case, like in many other cases lately, designers are becoming more creative when they are deprived of manufacturing luxuries, or they have to upcycle, recycle, and repurpose. Practical limitations triggered creativity. For Monse, there is actually a burst of creativity going on. Tulle-lined athleisure is a dream come true for fashionistas. These asymmetric knits are sophistication going next level of coolness. Their favorite polka dots take on a new life. A couple of patchworked trench coat silhouettes and a blazer are must-haves. The collection is all about being active, practical, efficient, staying optimistic, giving solutions without giving up your high standards in terms of aesthetics. By far, a clear favorite! Monse participated on February 14th, 2021 in the NYFW with an amazing video of the Spring 2021 collection.
