AREA FW20: Intricate Creations with Diverse Origins

This ever-evolving, multi-faceted American fashion brand created once more a rather complex and diverse collection. Area FW20 is inspired by many different things including the show’s venue; the Africa Center that supports African culture and crafts in the US. Designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk keep on surprising us, being additionally inspired by history of art, new technologies, traditional African weaves, Japanese exotic postcards, the draped masterpieces of Madame Grès, leather costumes by Eiko Ishioka in the ‘Dracula’ movie by Francis Ford Coppola, heart motifs signatures of designer Romeo Gigli, and interior design ideas by NY-based Myreality. They love tech fabrics and materials as much as artisanal techniques. They are totally unpredictable, rebellious, controversial, and boundary-pushing. They just created the craziest of all new accessories; the chair-shaped handbag that references Myreality items.
