The word bellissima carries a uniquely Italian resonance—an expression of beauty, charisma, and emotional intensity that transcends language. For Fall/Winter 2026–2027, Alabama Muse embraced this evocative idea in a collection that celebrated timeless femininity through a cinematic lens. Presented as a tribute to legendary Italian screen icons, the collection unfolded as a sophisticated wardrobe shaped by elegance, nostalgia, and modern consciousness.
Creative director Alice Gentilucci drew inspiration from the powerful presence of actresses who defined an era of Italian cinema. Figures such as Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida, Monica Vitti, Silvana Mangano, Virna Lisi, and Anna Magnani informed the mood of the season. Their magnetic strength and expressive beauty became the emotional framework of a collection that reflected both glamour and authenticity.
The aesthetic language of Alabama Muse was grounded in a neorealist cinematic vision that balanced rigor with sensuality. Tailoring played a central role throughout the collection, reflecting a philosophy that values craftsmanship and longevity. Every garment was conceived with durability in mind, emphasizing careful material selection and refined construction. Produced entirely in Italy, the capsule relied on skilled artisans and limited production runs, reinforcing the brand’s dedication to quality and responsibility.
Textures and fabrics created a dialogue between heritage and innovation. Rich materials enveloped the silhouettes with warmth and softness while maintaining sculptural precision. Animal-free faux furs were central to the collection, recreating the visual depth of classic pelts through ethical alternatives inspired by black fox, leopard, astrakhan, white Mongolia, mink, and lamb textures. The result conveyed a luxurious tactile richness aligned with a contemporary vision of sustainability.
Outerwear formed the architectural core of the collection. Round-neck jackets fastened with toggles, double-breasted coats, and intricately inlaid designs showcased meticulous craftsmanship. Oversized unisex boxer coats added relaxed structure, while contrasting double cuffs introduced subtle visual tension. Grosgrain-trimmed collars and deliberately unfinished hems on long-wooled pea coats created a sense of lived-in sophistication. Some silhouettes wrapped the body with airy lightness, giving dramatic volume an almost weightless presence.
Within this wardrobe of statement coats, femininity revealed itself through carefully balanced contrasts. Bustiers appeared as sculptural accents that emphasized the natural lines of the body, paired with sleek fitted skirts that traced the hips with fluid precision. Accessories extended the cinematic narrative: new interpretations of the Cossack hat and dramatic faux-fur headdresses evoked the allure of vintage film imagery.
Signature design details further defined the Alabama Muse identity. Turquoise linings—an emblem of the brand since its earliest collections—added a vibrant internal accent to the garments. Interior straps allowed coats to be worn slung over the shoulders like backpacks, blending practicality with contemporary styling.
For the first time, the house introduced slip dresses into its offering. Conceived as intimate companions to the collection’s outerwear, these delicate pieces were crafted in silk and chiffon. Soft candy hues, touched with subtle red highlights, brought a romantic dimension to the lineup. Tonal jacquards and contrasting accents enhanced the fluid silhouettes, allowing the dresses to move effortlessly beneath the sculptural coats.
The collection reflected the perspective of its founder, Alice Gentilucci, whose career bridges styling, editorial direction, and design. An internationally recognized fashion stylist, Gentilucci has collaborated with renowned photographers including Helmut Newton, Ellen von Unwerth, Mario Sorrenti, Paolo Roversi, and Peter Lindbergh. Her work has also shaped the visual narratives of artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Gwen Stefani, and Julianne Moore. Alongside her design practice, she serves as Fashion Editor-at-Large for Vogue Italia and contributes to publications including InStyle US and Vanity Fair.
The show took place at Fondazione Sozzani, a cultural institution founded by Carla Sozzani and dedicated to photography, fashion, and the arts. The foundation continues the legacy of the historic Galleria Carla Sozzani, fostering creativity and supporting new generations of talent through exhibitions, education initiatives, and interdisciplinary projects.
With Bellissima, Alabama Muse captured a sense of Italian glamour that felt both nostalgic and forward-looking. The collection combined cinematic romance, ethical awareness, and precise tailoring into a wardrobe designed to endure beyond seasons.
