Heirlooms in Motion: Calle Del Mar’s Summer 2025 Collection Is a Love Letter to Handcraft & Heritage

Calle Del Mar’s Summer 2025 collection, titled Heirlooms, is an emotive tribute to memory, craftsmanship, and generational legacy. Designed by founder Aza Ziegler, the collection emerges as a tender reflection on familial traditions and the personal stories woven into every handmade stitch. With the introduction of its first cut-and-sew garments, this season marks a meaningful evolution for the Californian luxury brand, expanding its narrative through heirloom-inspired cotton sets trimmed in delicate viscose crochet.

Rooted in Ziegler’s maternal lineage, Heirlooms draws on a personal archive of intimate objects: vintage nightgowns sewn by her great-grandmother, crocheted wedding pyjamas passed down by her mother, and summers spent in Sonoma—a dreamy setting that informs both the color palette and spirit of the collection. Earthy clay, eucalyptus green, deep navy, and crisp whites evoke a sense of grounded elegance, echoing warm sunsets and breezy late-summer evenings.

The silhouettes, as always, are relaxed yet refined—effortlessly chic with a nostalgic softness. Calle Del Mar continues to champion full looks over separates, presenting ensembles that are designed to be worn together while remaining versatile.

Local production remains a core value, with each piece made within 30 miles of the brand’s California studio, in female-led, family-run workshops. Materials are ethically sourced from Italy’s finest mills, emphasizing both sustainability and quality.

Perhaps the most symbolic piece of the collection is the Heirloom Poplin Set, directly inspired by a wedding ensemble gifted to Ziegler by her mother. Embellished with a small nameplate that reads “CDM,” it quietly honors her great-grandmother’s original embroidery—a gesture that encapsulates the emotional intent behind the entire collection.

Ziegler’s vision is clear: fashion that doesn’t chase trends but instead preserves stories, celebrates women’s creativity, and offers a soft space where the past and present seamlessly converge. In a world moving quickly, Heirlooms is a gentle pause—a collection to wear, cherish, and one day pass on.
