It’s fashion royalty, Hollywood royalty and actual British royalty, teaming up to save lives! Ralph Lauren is in London to announce the Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research and his philanthropic partnership with The Royal Marsden. Mr. Lauren also attended a charity dinner at Windsor Castle, hosted by HRH The Duke of Cambridge, to celebrate the work of The Royal Marsden, along with fellow major donors and supporters of the hospital. Attending the event were men and women who have showed their sensitivity and determination in their own field such as: Cate Blanchett (photo), Emma Watson (photo to the right), Helena Bonham Carter, Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Arizona Muse, Hamish Bowles and Mario Testino, most of them dressed in amazing Ralph Lauren eveningwear.
The Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research will be housed in a new facility at The Royal Marsden’s Chelsea hospital; the largest and most comprehensive cancer center in Europe. Staffed by a team of world-renowned clinicians and scientists working with the latest in cancer research technology, the center will be dedicated to advancing breast cancer research with the goal of improving early diagnosis and the development of new treatments for breast cancer. “Fighting breast cancer has been a long-standing goal of mine,” said Mr Ralph Lauren, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Ralph Lauren Corporation.
“I am so pleased and honored for our Company to partner with The Royal Marsden, a truly remarkable institution with a global reputation for ground-breaking research and pioneering the very latest in cancer treatments and technologies. It is my great hope that this partnership advances cancer treatment options and outcomes for patients around the world.”
The Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research will take up a whole floor in the historic Royal Marsden hospital which will be developed to the highest specification to provide a world-class facility for breast cancer research.
Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden, said, “The support of Ralph Lauren Corporation will be of immense benefit to The Royal Marsden’s pioneering cancer research strategy. It has the potential to change clinical practice and contribute significantly to the international knowledge basis.
“Philanthropic support such as this is vital to continuing to allowing The Royal Marsden to go above and beyond, funding world-leading equipment, facilities and projects. “I would like to thank Ralph Lauren Corporation for their generosity and investment in our work, and their commitment to breast cancer research.”
This partnership continues a long-standing relationship between The Royal Marsden and Ralph Lauren Corporation, after The Royal Marsden benefited from the Ralph Lauren Corporation’s Pink Pony for many years. It seems that the world of fashion many times has taken the initiative to change the world, and personally I’m so happy for that!
