Naeem Khan SS 14: Ultimate Glamour!

For Spring/Summer 2014 Naeem Khan created the opulent version of the Frida Kalho story, blending the iconic braided headband with Latin prints, exquisite floral embroidery, precious lace, and daring transparency. It was a RTW collection based on Haute Couture techniques and supported by very talented hands. As always, his evening gowns, dresses, and separates had a royal flair! We saw his signature caftans, but we were also stunned by these super chic and feminine dresses that left very little to imagination. Much of the adornment in these precious outfits was hand-sewn and definitely took many hours to complete.

His charming palette included – as expected from the Spanish influence – lots of red, black, and gold, but also some adorable pastels and neutrals. His purpose was to create eye-catching contrasts and give to the looks a majestic feel. Lace was piece-by-piece hand-sewn on nude transparencies, forming intricate motifs reminiscent of oriental tapestry. Silhouettes were simple and destined to serve the luxurious detailing. They were beyond glamorous, chic, and sophisticated. It was a red-carpet collection with amazing numbers to be adopted on special occasions by those who feel special all the time. Naeem doesn’t hesitate to give glamour to the people, and he does it working meticulously on each one of the pieces; each one of the decorations. Even on the beach – with bandeau and shorts – women have the right to look fabulous!
