New York has welcomed a radiant new destination to its luxury landscape. La DoubleJ, the Milan-founded lifestyle brand created by J.J. Martin, has unveiled The Lighthouse, its first flagship store in the United States, establishing a vibrant presence on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Housed within an elegant townhouse at 18 East 69th Street, The Lighthouse represents a significant milestone in the brand’s international expansion while introducing a fresh vision of what a contemporary luxury retail experience can be. Designed as a place where fashion, design, creativity, and well-being coexist, the space reflects La DoubleJ’s enduring mission to inspire joy, beauty, and meaningful human connection.
Since launching in Milan in 2015, La DoubleJ has evolved into a distinctive luxury lifestyle brand celebrated for its exuberant prints, vibrant use of color, and commitment to exceptional Italian craftsmanship. Across ready-to-wear, jewelry, accessories, and homeware, the brand has cultivated a devoted global following drawn to its optimistic aesthetic and uplifting philosophy. The opening of The Lighthouse brings that universe to New York in its most immersive form to date.
Conceived in collaboration with Florence-based design studio b-arch Architettura, the flagship unfolds as a sequence of carefully orchestrated environments that invite visitors on a sensory journey. Every detail has been designed to create an atmosphere of discovery, warmth, and illumination, transforming a traditional shopping experience into something far more experiential.
The journey begins at the entrance, where guests step through a striking cylindrical portal designed to serve as a symbolic threshold. Wrapped in custom gold-flecked silk wallpaper featuring sacred motifs created by La DoubleJ’s in-house design team, the space immediately establishes the store’s distinctive visual language. Suspended overhead is a dramatic chandelier composed of more than 110 hand-blown Bohemian glass bulbs, casting a luminous glow throughout the entryway and setting the tone for the rooms beyond.
Throughout the townhouse, the architecture embraces fluidity and movement. Curved walls, mirrored surfaces, iridescent mother-of-pearl finishes, and brass-framed portals create a dreamlike environment that feels both intimate and expansive. Custom hand-tufted wool carpets and warm neutral tones soften the interiors, while reflective materials amplify the ever-changing play of light across the space.
The first two floors are dedicated to La DoubleJ’s complete fashion universe, showcasing the brand’s ready-to-wear collections, jewelry, accessories, and decorative home pieces. Each room has been thoughtfully designed to highlight the craftsmanship and artistry behind the collections while encouraging visitors to explore at their own pace.
A dedicated homeware space, illuminated by a custom-designed skylight, celebrates the decorative richness and joyful spirit that have become signatures of the brand.
Beyond fashion, The Lighthouse introduces an entirely new dimension to the La DoubleJ experience through its Light Temple, a serene sanctuary devoted to meditation, sound experiences, workshops, and community gatherings. Located on the upper level of the townhouse, the space draws inspiration from sacred architecture while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. Mirrored reflections, custom-designed wall coverings, and shimmering mother-of-pearl details create an atmosphere of tranquility and contemplation.
The Light Temple will host a rotating program of consciousness-focused experiences for the La DoubleJ Sisterhood community, including guided meditations, sound baths, workshops, and intimate gatherings led by practitioners from around the world.
At the heart of the space are two custom-made gongs created by Simon Morris of Gongmatic in collaboration with Madhava Carrara and Margherita Cioffi of Grotta Sonora. Handcrafted near Rome, the instruments have been tuned to produce harmonious frequencies that encourage relaxation, presence, and emotional well-being, transforming sound into an immersive sensory experience.
To celebrate the opening of The Lighthouse, La DoubleJ hosted a week-long series of events in early June that embodied the brand’s spirit of ritual, creativity, and connection. The carefully curated program invited guests to experience the new flagship through a series of immersive gatherings that blended fashion, culture, wellness, and community.
Among the highlights was a special anointment ceremony held within the Light Temple, where sound and ritual combined to create a moment of renewal and reflection. An intimate dinner at Casa Cruz brought together friends of the brand, tastemakers, and members of the international La DoubleJ community for an evening of conversation and celebration. A Female Founder Breakfast provided an inspiring setting for women across fashion, business, media, and entrepreneurship to connect, exchange ideas, and foster new collaborations.
The opening festivities attracted an accomplished group of guests whose presence reflected La DoubleJ’s growing influence across fashion, design, media, and culture. Among those celebrating the launch were Carolyn Murphy, Veronica Webb, Cass Bird, Jenna Lyons, Sarah Clary, Laura Brown, Lily Rabe, Elizabeth Gillies, Anne V, Dee Poku, Vanessa Friedman, Amy Astley, Nicole Phelps, Micaela Erlanger, Kim Strother, Amanda Nguyen, Kristina O’Neill, Amanda Ross, and Brian Atwood.
The Lighthouse arrives at a moment when luxury consumers increasingly seek experiences that extend beyond shopping. By bringing together fashion, design, craftsmanship, wellness, and community under one roof, La DoubleJ has created a destination that feels uniquely aligned with contemporary lifestyles while remaining deeply rooted in Italian artistry and craftsmanship.
The Lighthouse serves as a cultural gathering place and an expression of J.J. Martin’s broader vision for the future of luxury. As La DoubleJ continues its international expansion, its New York home stands as a luminous new chapter. This one further strengthens the brand’s presence in the American market, joining its existing boutiques in Palm Beach and Dallas.
