Snow Xue Gao is a Designer to Watch!

Unexpected lines and details, great juxtaposition of colors and motifs, asymmetries, and boy-meets-girl aesthetics are the basic ingredients of a very promising NYC-based designer. ‘Big Little Lies’ star Shailene Woodley has been recently styled in the brand’s oversize check suit by Style Director Alex Badia for a WWD interview with Leigh Nordstrom.

The FW19 collection is definitely a proof that the designer is having fun with eclectic mix & match and layering. Beautiful Asian-inspired prints are taking over the surface of fluid silhouettes. Checks are destined to cover tailored numbers and ethereal fabrics alike. ‘The Dream of the Red Chamber’ is a collection that goes back to Chinese iconography and tradition, yet in a modern way.

Snow Xue Gao launched her eponymous label in 2017, following her debut collection at Parsons MFA show. With experience in the design department at Jason Wu, she produced her thesis collection under the tutelage of Martin Greenfield. Soon after her graduation, she started selling globally and got invited showing on-schedule at New York Fashion Week. She was nominated for the LVMH Prize and the Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 list. She was triumphant in winning the Swarovski & Vogue Talents New Generation Award and Vfiles Runway. It is certain that she has a very fascinating career ahead of her.
