NYFW Fall/Winter 2016 Day 8

There is no New York Fashion Week without Ralph Lauren’s star-studded finale! That show is always epitomizing all-American finesse with its ultra elegant attendees and sophisticated runway offerings! Statuesque top model Karlie Kloss opened the show wearing an ever-classic cashmere cardigan in a total taupe outfit that makes for the perfect all-occasion look. It was a subtle and chic recommendation for a closet that needs to be elevated through essential luxurious pieces!

Sienna Miller was attending the 10am show, and we could definitely imagine lots of the creations presented on her especially the eveningwear pieces for her red carpet outings. Next to her, it was a consistent admirer of the Ralph Lauren aesthetics, US Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. At the finale of the show Ralph Lauren greeted his high-fashion and high-profile guests with a big smile. It’s the moment that we all get emotional in the room! After all he is such inspiring man and a huge creative force!

A double-breasted coat dress, crisp white shirts featuring oversize bows and ruffles at the collar, wide-brimmed hats, a zoom-in-plaid motif poncho, mannish neckties, tweed and herringbone ensembles, draped velvet gowns, and impressively cozy knitwear were key pieces in the collection. A cascade of golden fabric can be part of a stunning evening look. A cropped knitted top will add a bit of naughtiness along with black knee-high patent leather boots! Bejeweled chockers are the way to glam up your plunging neckline.

Ralph Lauren revisited his signature style staples, in a very modern way bringing the English country well into an urban cosmopolitan environment, infusing it a rock&roll vibe and glamorizing the simplest lines through high quality yarns, and exquisite tailoring. Taupe, brown, gold, black and white along with eye-catching deep jewel tones made for a totally wearable high-impact color palette. It was another old-world journey but with lots of freshness and newness.

70’s inspired rock&roll edginess was an important part of the collection. The lines and the contrasts were sharp and very modern in execution, noticeable on utterly desirable little black dresses, silver-coated jeans, rich velvet and brocade jackets, and shirts with Amadeus-style ruffles.

British historical references abounded throughout the collection, especially those with rustic, countryside allure. Hunting or horse riding that lady is today juggling in style all sorts of appointments across the streets of Manhattan and elsewhere in the world! Roomy high-waist pants ease her movements and Navajo-inspired fringed capes warm up her shoulders. Tweed patchwork creates a charming visual effect for all-day outerwear in the same way plaid-on-plaid looks do!

The regal aspect to it, is an inspiration derived from the distinctively dramatic style Queen Elizabeth I had, being highly visible in an epic black gown with ruffled collar Karlie Kloss rocked on the runway. And it continues well into pleated velvet gowns with gilded details. Ralph’s eveningwear will make waves on the red carpet this season! A real marvel!
