J.Salinas SS26: A Poetic Dance Between Tradition and Innovation in the Heart of Milan

In the serene and picturesque setting of the Senato Garden in Milan, designer Jorge Luis Salinas unveiled his Spring/Summer 2026 collection in a runway show that felt more like a living poem than a typical fashion presentation.

Definitely a feast for the eyes, pure visual delight for the fashion insiders (including Anna Dello Russo) attending the show dressed in the designer’s artisanal masterpieces.

With its lush greenery and tranquil ambiance, the garden set the perfect stage for a collection that delicately blends artisanal mastery with bold cultural narrative.

At the core of this season’s inspiration is the Danza de las Tijeras—the ancestral Andean Scissors Dance, a mesmerizing and deeply symbolic ritual recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

J.SALINAS reinterpreted this centuries-old tradition through a contemporary haute couture lens, creating pieces that radiate with the duality of motion and stillness, resilience and delicacy, heritage and modernity.

In a stunning palette of pastels, the garments communicated strength with a whisper rather than a roar. Soft hues of blush, sage, lilac, and sand created a dreamscape on the runway, striking a visual balance that felt both graceful and grounded.

These tones were chosen deliberately, acting as metaphors for the contradictions within the Scissors Dance itself—movement and silence, earth and sky, physical skill and spiritual depth.

What set this show apart was not just its theme, but the evident craftsmanship behind each look. The collection featured intricate crochet work, handcrafted by Peruvian artisans in close collaboration with the designer.

From delicate textures to masterful construction, these creations spoke volumes about the dedication and cultural pride infused into every stitch.

Crochet techniques—often requiring intense time and precision—were elevated to high fashion heights, appearing in both daywear and breathtaking evening ensembles.

Voluminous silhouettes gave the garments a sense of fluid motion, as if they were participating in a dance of their own.

The eveningwear pieces dazzled with their unique structures and layers, while maintaining the subtle pastel tones that tied the collection together.

Daywear was no less impressive in beautiful colors and unexpected silhouettes—its refinement and artistry proving that luxury can be found in the everyday.

Through hues, motifs, and artistry, J.SALINAS SS26 served as a bold cultural statement. It’s a celebration of Peru’s rich heritage, a tribute to feminine power, and an invitation to engage with fashion as a form of emotional and artistic storytelling.

As Jorge Luis Salinas stated, his vision is for each garment to become a bridge between past and present, telling stories that deserve to be seen and remembered on the global stage.
