Il Silenzio: Lug Von Siga Turns Silence into the Language of SS27

There are emotions that resist explanation. A farewell held a second too long, the memory of someone carried across years, a piece of cloth infused with personal meaning. For Spring/Summer 2027, Gül Ağış enters that intimate territory with Il Silenzio, the Lug Von Siga collection that marked the Istanbul label’s debut on the Milan Fashion Week calendar.

Presented in Milan on September 23, 2026, at Via Enrico Toti 2, Il Silenzio brought Lug Von Siga’s distinctive vocabulary of embroidery, craftsmanship and cultural memory into a city with particular significance for its founder. Ağış spent roughly a decade in Milan during her education and professional career before returning to Istanbul and establishing Lug Von Siga in 2010. Sixteen years later, she arrived back with the fashion house she had built, making the occasion feel as personal as it was professional.

Il Silenzio, Italian for “the silence,” begins with the idea that silence can contain extraordinary emotional intensity. Ağış approaches it as an interior landscape: the private realm of devotion, longing, contemplation and words withheld. The spiritual and poetic universe associated with Rumi and Shams informs the collection, placing love and connection beyond the limits of ordinary conversation.

Rather than illustrating those ideas literally, Ağış translates them through fabric, texture and handwork. White, off-white and softly translucent shades create an atmosphere of serenity, while silk, georgette and taffeta introduce movement and luminosity. Sheer layers allow the body to appear and recede. Technical materials bring a sharper contemporary note, setting structure against fluidity and precision against delicacy.

Then there is the handkerchief. One of the collection’s most affecting motifs comes from an old Anatolian tradition in which lovers exchanged handkerchiefs when parting. The small object became something far greater than its practical purpose: a keepsake of the absent beloved and a quiet promise of reunion. Ağış carries that symbolism into Il Silenzio, where the handkerchief evokes longing, remembrance and all that can pass between two people without being spoken aloud. It is an evocative choice for a designer whose work has long been connected to cultural storytelling.

Ağış studied fashion design at Istituto Marangoni in Milan and continued her postgraduate fashion education in the city before working and consulting within the industry in both Milan and Istanbul. When she founded Lug Von Siga in Istanbul in 2010, she developed a design language closely connected to her heritage, with original embroidery, textile treatments, prints and feminine silhouettes becoming recurring signatures. The brand name itself carries Ağış’s identity: Lug Von Siga is derived from her name, transformed into the title of the label through a play on its letters.

For Il Silenzio, another deeply personal source of inspiration emerges through memories of traditional Anatolian handcraft. Details recall the treasured handiwork once preserved in a grandmother’s dowry, where embroidery and painstakingly made textiles could carry family histories from one generation to another. Ağış brings the emotional intimacy of those objects into a contemporary wardrobe, allowing heritage to remain alive through reinterpretation.

The result is a collection where craftsmanship feels inseparable from storytelling. Intricate handmade details punctuate cleaner silhouettes; translucent surfaces encounter more substantial textures; softness and structure exist within the same visual language. The contrast gives Il Silenzio its tension. Its romanticism has clarity, and its nostalgia remains firmly connected to the present.

This attention to making also reveals the collection’s interpretation of luxury. Here, luxury resides in time: the hours required to perfect a detail, the patience inherent in handcraft, the knowledge accumulated through practice and the decision to create with intention. It is a philosophy consistent with Lug Von Siga’s wider emphasis on craftsmanship, cultural heritage, conscious consumption and responsible production.

Since its founding, the Istanbul-based label has developed an international retail presence that today reaches approximately 80 points of sale worldwide, with stockists spanning markets across Europe, the United States, the United Kingdom, Asia and beyond. Its Milan Fashion Week presentation therefore arrived at a pivotal moment in the brand’s European trajectory.

Yet numbers tell only one part of this particular Milan story. For Ağış, the city is woven into the years that preceded Lug Von Siga. Returning with her own label transforms Milan from a chapter in her formation into the setting for another beginning. The designer who once studied and worked there came back carrying the visual heritage of Anatolia, filtered through 16 years of building an independent fashion identity in Istanbul.

That sense of return makes Il Silenzio especially resonant. A collection preoccupied with absence and reunion found its international stage in a city to which its creator was herself returning.

Perhaps that is why the quietness at the heart of the collection feels so expressive. A handkerchief can preserve the memory of a lover. Embroidery can hold traces of generations. A translucent layer can suggest vulnerability without explaining it. White can become emotional rather than neutral. Clothing can carry stories that were never written down.

With Il Silenzio, Lug Von Siga proposes a Spring/Summer 2027 wardrobe shaped by those invisible connections. Ağış allows Anatolian craftsmanship, spiritual reflection and personal memory to inhabit the same space, giving traditional gestures a contemporary life without stripping them of their intimacy.
