Curiel FW24: The Beauty of “Archive Peekaboo” & “Alta Moda”

In the heart of Milan, at the prestigious Atelier on Via Montenapoleone 13, Curiel, the centenary Italian haute couture house, proudly presented its Fall/Winter 2024 collections. The unveiling comprised two stunning lines: “Archive Peekaboo” and the couture collection “Alta Moda,” each blending the meticulous craftsmanship synonymous with Made in Italy with a deep dive into the brand’s archival silhouettes.

The Fall/Winter 2024 offering from Curiel showcased a versatile array of pieces perfect for both day and evening wear. The collection featured an array of silhouettes, from snug fits to more relaxed lines, adorned with draping, asymmetrical elements, and exquisite embroidery that characterize the range. The use of materials such as wool blends, velvet, floral jacquards, lace, and leather added a rich texture to the garments.

A soft palette of vanilla, cream, butter, grey, and nude was accented with bold touches of red, tobacco, green, pink, and black, bringing a subtle yet striking color story to the collection.

Additionally, six evening dresses from the “Alta Moda” couture line, crafted by designer Matteo Thiela, were introduced. These pieces continue the sartorial legacy of Gigliola Curiel, the brand’s second-generation visionary, and the allure of Raffaella Curiel’s era.

Thiela’s designs played with contrasts of light and shadow, black and white, weaving together minimalism and romantic luxury. In his creative process, Thiela utilized millions of threads of pure silk, infusing the fabrics with a unique vitality. These precious materials shaped complex and contemporary silhouettes, evoking a sense of profound and astonishing beauty. “Sensuality is an intrinsic art of humanity. For an artist, a piece of clothing must be a work of art,” stated Matteo Thiela.

The presentation was not just a showcase of fashion but a celebration of Curiel’s enduring legacy, combining historical reverence with forward-thinking design. It reaffirmed the brand’s position at the pinnacle of Italian haute couture, inviting attendees on a journey through the archives with a modern twist.
