Calcaterra SS27 Makes Volume Feel Intimate

For Spring Summer 2027, Calcaterra creates clothes whose presence comes from the way they occupy space. Daniele Calcaterra builds his latest wardrobe through proportion, movement and the subtle friction between discipline and release, allowing fabric to become the collection’s most persuasive form of expression.

Seen through the Spring Summer 2027 lookbook, the collection unfolds against streets, façades, garage doors and weathered architectural surfaces. The surroundings are deliberately ordinary, even austere. Against them, Calcaterra’s clothes acquire an almost cinematic clarity. Deep green, chocolate brown, rust, black and immaculate white emerge from concrete, painted plaster and corrugated metal, while the model moves through these spaces with the detached confidence of someone inhabiting the clothes rather than performing for them. That distinction feels important. Calcaterra has long developed a vocabulary grounded in volume and clean lines, with Daniele Calcaterra repeatedly approaching familiar sartorial forms through altered proportions. The label was founded in 2014, and the designer marked its 10-year milestone during Milan Fashion Week in September 2025. His Spring Summer 2026 collection explored the dialogue between traditionally masculine tailoring and sensuality through generous trousers, fluid dresses and closely shaped jackets. Fall Winter 2026/27 subsequently distilled the idea further in “The Pure Collection,” focusing attention on silhouette, proportion and texture.
Spring Summer 2027 appears to carry that investigation forward while giving it a different physical temperature. Here, the body seems alternately framed, concealed and released.
A forest-green coat falls with relaxed authority over a dark chocolate shirt, while another garment is tied around the waist, creating layers that feel instinctive rather than meticulously arranged. Wide green trousers extend the silhouette toward the ground. The combination is rich in color yet controlled in execution: green against brown, fluidity against tailoring, polish against deliberate ease.

Brown becomes particularly expressive throughout the imagery. A loose, plunging blouse and matching wide-leg trousers transform suiting into something languid and intimate. The top slips away from the conventions of corporate tailoring through its deep neckline, softened construction and almost robe-like attitude.

Elsewhere, rust-colored fabric is allowed to expand dramatically around the body in a floor-length dress viewed from behind. Its open back exposes a precise area of skin before the garment cascades into folds, gathers and irregular volumes. The effect depends less on decoration than on the behavior of cloth itself.
That sensitivity to fabric is one of the collection’s clearest signatures. Calcaterra lets material pool, crease, gather and extend beyond conventional boundaries. Clothes sometimes seem caught between states: tailored and draped, finished and spontaneous, architectural and almost liquid. Instead of forcing fabric into rigid obedience, the silhouettes allow gravity to participate in the design.
The wide trouser assumes a similarly important role. In black, it becomes sweeping and graphic, paired with a sheer fitted top and a sculptural detail circling the waist. The exaggerated leg creates movement with every stride, turning a straightforward act of walking into an image of controlled momentum. The lookbook photography amplifies that sensation with motion blur and tilted framing, resisting the polished stillness traditionally associated with formal tailoring.
White brings another register. An oversized white blazer, fluid ivory layers and matching trousers create a study in tonal dressing, interrupted by a substantial gold chain at the neck. The jewelry introduces weight and shine without overwhelming the clothes.

In another image, an expansive white shirt meets a dark skirt covered with dimensional black embellishment. Hard sunlight cuts across the face and garment, emphasizing the contrast between crisp cotton, reflective surface decoration and bare skin. Accessories throughout the images are used with similar economy. Chunky metallic bracelets and chain jewelry provide concentrated points of brightness.
Perhaps the collection’s most dramatic proposition arrives in dark green. A strapless, voluminous dress gathers around the body before spilling downward, accompanied by an extravagant mass of gray feather-like texture. Photographed against a pale green residential façade and beside a stone architectural column, the look turns an everyday exterior into an impromptu stage. The contrast captures much of the Spring Summer 2027 mood: grandeur placed somewhere unexpectedly familiar.
Texture returns in another close crop, where a sheer pale top is paired with an exuberantly tactile skirt composed of long, feathery strands in muted cream, gray and touches of warm orange. The frame deliberately withholds the complete silhouette. Instead, it asks the eye to concentrate on surface, skin, jewelry and movement.
The palette reinforces that sense of material sophistication. Forest and bottle greens sit beside burgundy-brown, chocolate, rust and black, while white and cream create moments of illumination. These are colors with density rather than sugary seasonal brightness. They also interact beautifully with the  environment chosen for the photographs, from oxidized walls to cool metallic doors and faded masonry. The images suggest an ongoing fascination with the relationship between masculine-coded wardrobe structures and softer, more exposed forms of dressing. Jackets grow loose and sensual; trousers become extraordinarily broad; transparent tops are balanced by substantial tailoring; dresses are constructed through expanses of cloth that simultaneously reveal and conceal. Gendered wardrobe conventions become less important than line, proportion and physical sensation. There is also an appealing lack of preciousness in the presentation. A car enters one composition. Pavement fills another. Cracks, stains, pipes, shutters and unfinished surfaces remain visible. The setting refuses to prettify the clothes, which makes their refinement more palpable. Calcaterra places fashion back into lived space and allows elegance to coexist with imperfection.

Ultimately, Calcaterra Spring Summer 2027 is a collection concerned with how clothes feel in space. Daniele Calcaterra treats volume as emotion, tailoring as a flexible proposition and fabric as something capable of finding its own gesture.
