Antoine Antoniadis, a young but already established designer in Paris, showcased his Fall/Winter 2011/12 collection during Athens Xclusive Designers Week, bringing us romantic vibes from the City of Light. Inspired by old laces, vintage clothing and the biker style, he ended up with an elegant version of simplicity, that one which is not determined as the absence of details but as the selective use of precious details. Gifted with deep knowledge of much-wanted techniques such as that of making uniquely woven leather pieces (a kind of leather tweed called “Matis”), he can easily create impressive and luxurious pieces for eye-catching morning and evening looks. Narrow belts for elegant waist-conscious styles, sleek leather gloves for retro or urban looks, and opaque tights can be easily called smart features. Antoine loves ultra-chic coats and short woven leather jackets, capes, skinny leather pants, 50’s skirts, and lacy intricacies. This season he translates his fashionable universe exclusively with light, luminous green and black. At the end of the show, he presented also a white wedding dress heavily related to Greek culture, ancient and modern, reminding us of ancient goddesses (or Caryatids) and of women wearing traditional costumes during the Greek Revolution of 1821.
