Aurea by Isabella Garbagnati to Be Unveiled at Moiré Gallery Milano during Milan Design Week 2026

As anticipation builds for Milan Design Week 2026, Moiré Gallery Milano prepares to introduce a new expression of collectible design that speaks to both intimacy and architectural precision. Aurea, the Gallerist’s Desk will make its debut within the gallery’s refined setting, offering a luminous interpretation of the contemporary workspace.

Designed by Isabella Garbagnati, whose creative lineage traces back to Gio Ponti, Aurea reflects a sophisticated dialogue between structure and sensation. The piece reimagines the traditional desk through a distilled architectural language, where essential lines and carefully considered proportions create a presence that feels at once grounded and effortlessly light.

A glass top defines the surface, introducing transparency and a sense of suspension, while the off-center base—finished in gold leaf—anchors the composition with sculptural intensity. This radiant foundation inspires the name Aurea, drawn from the Latin for gold, evoking a quiet brilliance that resonates throughout the design. The asymmetry lends the piece a dynamic equilibrium, where visual tension becomes a defining element of its elegance.

Beyond its refined exterior, Aurea reveals a functional core. Concealed shelving within the structure provides space for documents and tools, integrating practicality into the purity of the form. Subtle moiré marble accents echo the identity of the gallery, embedding a nuanced material narrative that enhances the desk’s character without disrupting its clarity.

The project originates from a personal vision by Ouafa Lotfi Tahoun, founder and curator of Moiré Gallery Milano, who envisioned a desk that could seamlessly unite beauty and utility. Through Garbagnati’s precise and thoughtful execution, that vision is transformed into a singular object, crafted exclusively for the gallery and realized through a meticulous artisanal process that preserves its rarity and individuality.

During the upcoming Design Week, Aurea will be presented alongside works by Pino Biggi, whose decades-spanning practice explores silence, drapery, and color with poetic restraint. His paintings will introduce a contemplative dimension to the space, forming a harmonious dialogue with the desk’s luminous presence and enriching the gallery’s immersive atmosphere.

Situated in Milan’s Quadrilatero district, Moiré Gallery Milano continues to cultivate a distinctive environment where art, fashion, and design converge. Under Tahoun’s direction, the gallery offers a curated experience defined by refinement, eclecticism, and a cosmopolitan sensibility. Within this setting, Aurea emerges as an embodiment of contemporary luxury—an object that elevates the everyday through materiality, craftsmanship, and a deeply considered aesthetic.

Set to be unveiled by invitation, Aurea marks one of the moments to watch during Milan Design Week 2026, where design becomes a reflection of cultivated living and enduring beauty.
