Ralph Lauren: American Dream with French Glow

lauren1The French president, Nicolas Sarkozy met at the Élysée Palace, the American legend Ralph Lauren in a small ceremony where the designer was given the Légion d’honneur medal. Mr. Sarkozy in his speech portrayed Lauren as representative of an America French like very much, a representative of the American Dream. His work is all about beauty, democracy, quality of life and philanthropy, according to the President. The ceremony was held on the occasion of the Ralph Lauren store opening in a luxuriously restored historic town house, on Paris’ Left Bank. The designer brought in Paris, for this opening, many members of his family and staff who have contributed to his efforts as a designer. Even Hubert de Givenchy praised the restoration of the historic building that was turned into a glamorous store. Equally flattering were designers such as Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Sonia and Nathalie Rykiel.
