For Spring/Summer 2026, David Catalán presents “PROBLEMS,” a thought-provoking menswear collection that reimagines Portuguese cultural traditions through the lens of contemporary fashion. Rooted in rural craftsmanship, the collection draws heavily on iconic elements such as manta alentejana textiles and pastoral guizos (herding bells), offering a sensory-rich homage to the designer’s heritage.
Catalán’s creative vision contrasts the rugged and the refined, the historic and the modern. Each garment becomes a conversation between utilitarian construction and expressive cultural identity.
The silhouettes are relaxed and comfort-driven, yet steeped in symbolism and precise tailoring. Through this fusion, Catalán continues his signature aesthetic—merging traditional codes with the attitude of urban streetwear.
“PROBLEMS” is not just about fashion; it’s about form, function, and storytelling. The collection balances rigidity with fluidity, reflecting the tension between past and present. Soft yet structured, the garments explore volume and texture in a way that feels both grounded and forward-thinking.
Styling played a key role in shaping the final look: Michelle Webb served as key makeup artist for AOFM Pro, while Valentino Fait of Wella Professionals helmed the hair direction.
The entire presentation was captured by photographer Filippo Fortis for Launchmetrics Spotlight, ensuring the visual language matched the collection’s narrative depth.
Backed by Portugal Fashion and co-financed through Compete 2030, the collection not only elevates Portuguese design on the global stage but also reinforces David Catalán’s role as a leading voice in modern menswear.
