For Spring/Summer 2014 Betsey Johnson surprised us using less color but maintaining her youthful spirit and her playfulness with crazy details, frills, and super girly accessories. We saw black, white, silver, and few pastels, but we also enjoyed animal prints and tiny romantic florals. Models were in pinky disco-age wigs and matte silver lipstick but the most amazing fact was that shoes – either boots, sneakers or high-heel platform sandals – were matching the dresses, swimwear, jumpsuits or ensembles. She likes to do that with all her accessories, to accentuate the retro spirit of the look. Girls were far more sensual and provocative, ready to seduce the audience.
This time it was less of a performance and more of a fashion show. She created more wearable things which could mostly attract teenagers but that doesn’t forbid older girls to adopt this type of coolness for off-duty casual looks. It’s the moment you want to wear your sneakers and walk confidently in your leopard-print jumpsuit. Or you want this super sexy bodysuit to wow your other-half when he comes back home from the office! Betsey reminded us that fashion is fun, not always a painstakingly prepared or thought-out product of a long procedure. Not doubt, fashion should make us feel free and happy!
