Size Matters: Delving into La DoubleJ’s Surreal Milan Design Week Fantasy

During Milan Design Week 2026, La DoubleJ unveils a transportive installation that reshapes the language of design through scale, spirit, and sensory wonder. Titled Size Matters, the experience transforms the brand’s Via Sant’Andrea flagship into a metaphysical sanctuary, where the ordinary is reimagined with bold proportions and a heightened sense of beauty.

Drawing inspiration from the dreamlike compositions of René Magritte, the space invites visitors into a surreal environment where familiar objects take on extraordinary dimensions.

Everyday homeware is magnified into sculptural statements, encouraging a renewed perspective on the relationship between size, emotion, and presence. The result is an atmosphere that feels both whimsical and profound, where design becomes a conduit for transformation.

At the center of the installation are striking oversized creations handcrafted by Viareggio carnival master Luca Bertozzi. These monumental pieces command attention with their theatrical scale and meticulous artistry, celebrating the enduring excellence of Italian craftsmanship.

Each object carries a sense of narrative and movement, infusing the space with a dynamic interplay between imagination and tradition.

The visual story extends seamlessly to the boutique’s windows, where artist Max Siedentopf introduces an added layer of playful intrigue. His creative direction enhances the installation’s expressive language, blending irony with elegance and reinforcing the immersive quality of the experience.

Together, these elements create a cohesive world where proportion becomes an artistic statement and scale becomes a source of emotional resonance.

The installation coincides with the debut of La DoubleJ’s Al Fresco collection, marking a new chapter in the brand’s evolution into outdoor living.

Designed to bring vibrant energy into open-air spaces, the collection features weather-resistant Baba poufs adorned in signature prints, alongside bicolor folding tables crafted for effortless entertaining.

Porcelain pieces from the bespoke Fiesole line introduce a refined Tuscan sensibility, merging heritage techniques with contemporary design.

This outdoor offering unfolds as a harmonious composition of color, geometry, and craftsmanship, created in collaboration with a network of skilled Italian artisans. Each piece is conceived to transform exterior environments into spaces of connection and joy, echoing the brand’s philosophy of elevated living.

Visitors to the Milan flagship are invited to take home a symbolic keepsake, a curated set featuring a pin and a mini magazine inspired by the interplay between Mini and Maxi.

These objects serve as a lasting reminder that beauty and meaning exist across every scale, from the smallest detail to the grandest expression. As Milan Design Week concludes, La DoubleJ looks ahead with the launch of The Energy Raising Program, a partnership with Villa San Michele, a Belmond Hotel in Florence. This collaboration introduces a new dimension to the brand’s universe, blending bespoke design with curated spiritual wellness in a setting defined by timeless elegance.

Through Size Matters, La DoubleJ offers a compelling vision of design as an immersive, emotional experience. The installation captures a sense of expansion—of space, of perception, and of possibility—inviting visitors to step into a world where scale is redefined and beauty is felt at every level.
