Vivetta has once again rewritten the rules of romantic surrealism with a fantastical splash for Spring/Summer 2026. In her latest collection, the Italian designer dives deep into the mythos of the sea, conjuring a dreamscape where whimsy meets craftsmanship — and mermaids rule the runway.
The SS26 narrative unfolds like a fairytale submerged beneath the waves, where legendary sirens, flamboyant pirates, and surreal sea creatures blend in a kaleidoscope of textures, colors, and symbolism.
These aren’t the delicate mermaids of children’s tales, though — they are emblems of transformation, bold femininity, and joyous rebellion. “Sirens Just Wanna Have Fun,” after all.
This escapist underwater fantasy plays out through narrative-rich fashion: balloon-trousered pirates with a rakish edge, sailor tattoos reimagined as fashion motifs, and aquatic creatures clinging to garments like loyal companions.
Vivetta’s signature collars are reworked into shimmering “bling-bling” statements, while ironic touches — like a delicate embroidered hand holding a scarf — echo her enduring sense of surrealist humor.
What makes this collection truly shine is its texture-rich storytelling. Think crisp poplin dresses adorned with mother-of-pearl buttons to mimic the sheen of wet skin, and terry cloth suits pinstriped in sequins.
Lurex-woven seahorses, crab-dotted lace, and beaded sea anemone appliqués add dimension and depth, all handcrafted with couture-level savoir-faire.
The shirt takes center stage as the collection’s chameleon: transforming from tuxedo blouse to full-length gown or flirty mini. Cape details tie dramatically at the shoulder, waist, or neck — reminiscent of oversized beach bags caught in the breeze.
Even casual textiles like nylon, canvas, and jersey are elevated with expert tailoring, while fishing net morphs into a luxe must-have, fashioned from gold chains and black tesserae.
Accessories surface from the seabed with Vivetta’s signature surrealist twist. Picture handbags shaped like fish, octopus rings, and sculptural starfish jewelry.
Seahorse comb necklaces and crab-shaped crystal pavé pocket mirrors add a playful touch of undersea glamour. Headwear gets the same aquatic treatment, from sailor caps to shirt-turned-turbans and raffia bucket hats embellished with charms.
Footwear marches to the rhythm of the tides. Gold-plated, hand-painted heels inspired by sea urchins dazzle with artisanal detail. Flat sandals feature beach-stripe trims, while soft wedges with sinuous nappa ruffles echo the eternal movement of ocean waves.
With styling by Simone Rutigliano, beauty direction from Giorgio Parrivecchio (Wella Professionals) and Michele Magnani (MAC), and music curated by Dorian Tarantini and Paolo Forchetti, the SS26 presentation pulses with creativity from every angle.
Vivetta’s SS26 invites us to escape — into waves of imagination, into a new language of beauty, and into a shimmering sea of possibilities. In this world, the sirens aren’t just calling — they’re dancing, sparkling, and stealing the spotlight.
