In Milan—long a compass for the global style conversation—ACBC has entered a decisive new chapter. The B-Corp certified fashion and lifestyle company, known for its steady pursuit of sustainable innovation, has officially unveiled a Scientific Committee designed to shape the next era of responsible materials and forward-thinking industrial processes. It is an announcement that positions the brand not simply as a participant in the industry’s evolution, but as one of the architects of its future.
The formation of this Committee arrives at a moment when the fashion world is demanding scientific integrity, environmental accountability, and technological depth from its leaders. ACBC’s answer is a sophisticated advisory body that examines every innovation proposal emerging from within the company—ensuring each advancement is grounded in solid research, economic feasibility, and meaningful relevance for tomorrow’s markets. Working in close dialogue with Co-Founder and Innovation Director Edoardo Iannuzzi, the Committee acts as a high-level compass for the brand’s long-term R&D trajectory.
What truly distinguishes this initiative is the multidisciplinarity of its members. ACBC has assembled four voices whose collective experience spans advanced material science, industrial operations, strategic management, and venture-backed innovation. Their expertise mirrors the complexity of modern fashion, where chemistry meets design, and where sustainability must align with business realities.
Heading the scientific dimension is Professor Maurizio Masi of Politecnico di Milano, a leading figure in applied physical chemistry whose work in inorganic materials and circular-economy-driven production processes has shaped collaborations across more than one hundred industrial partners. With over 150 scientific publications and a portfolio of international patents, he brings formidable academic authority to ACBC’s material innovation pipeline.
From the world of luxury operations comes Stefano Orsi, Group COO of Damiani International, whose leadership across fashion, publishing, and retail includes key operational roles at Geox and nearly two decades overseeing industrial activities at the Armani Group. His global perspective offers essential insight into how pioneering materials can be scaled, managed, and brought to market with precision.
Julien Born adds deep experience in textiles, biomaterials, and chemicals, having held senior positions at major industrial players such as DuPont, KOCH Industries, HeiQ, and The LYCRA Company, where he most recently served as CEO. His background in scale-up strategies and technology financing brings a pragmatic, market-oriented lens to the Committee’s evaluations.
Completing the group is Leslie Harwell, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Alante Capital, a fund at the forefront of investing in sustainable materials and technology. Her career in finance and her interdisciplinary approach to science, geopolitics, and design reflect the global, interconnected forces shaping modern consumption.
Together, these four experts form a rare convergence of scientific rigor, operational mastery, strategic clarity, and financial insight. Their appointment—set for a renewable twenty-four-month term—signals a significant acceleration in ACBC’s commitment to high-impact innovation.
“Their diverse expertise will play a pivotal role in validating and accelerating the technologies that will shape the future of sustainable fashion,” said Iannuzzi. His words capture both the ambition and the urgency of the moment. By establishing a Scientific Committee with this level of authority and breadth, ACBC is asserting its intention to lead—not through rhetoric, but through measurable, research-driven progress.
With this move, the company strengthens its role as a bridge between material science and the fashion landscape, reaffirming a belief that sustainability must be engineered, not simply imagined. The Committee is not an accessory to ACBC’s innovation strategy; it is the new engine behind it.
And in a fashion environment increasingly defined by transparency, accountability, and technical excellence, this initiative positions ACBC among the most forward-looking voices shaping what responsible luxury and lifestyle design will look like in the years ahead.
