Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter 2022: Sexy Cocoon Silhouettes

As we are transitioning from home-bound loungewear to post-pandemic urban looks, we all need a polished version of the comfort we have been experiencing over the last two years. It felt mandatory but somehow we got used to slouchy cocoon-style silhouettes and cozy layering. On Day 1 of the NYFW FW22 Collections, Proenza Schouler sent down the runway the real-world version of our WFH personas, bringing some structure, shape, and meaning to roominess and casualness.

Layering little blankets over outerwear, knit peplum tops over billowy skirts and pants, or imitating this feel with color-blocking, the collection gives us the opportunity to effortlessly walk from our digital universe to the actual streets, making street style more wearable and human-centered.

The hooded look on Bella Hadid meant simplicity but also the passage to a more intricate day-to-day situation in which people want to feel cocooned and protected.

Even the brand’s eveningwear options linger between daytime obligations and our long-forgotten night-owl habits. Young ladies have missed it while in fact, all women at any age started appreciating it.

These clothes with black & whites, earthy tones, and some really bold-color alternatives are meant to be worn by social beings who want to hang out, dance, laugh, and enjoy life.

Shirts with paneled billowy sleeves, painterly animal prints, gathered details, statement brooches, and balloon & ruched accents coincide with oversized suiting, luxurious minimalist outerwear, and some extremely functional, spacious carry-all shoulder bags so that you take with you all your essentials as well as your homey self, even in the most crowded, urban settings.

This collection marks definitely the beginning of a new era, and as such, it fabulously revisits all the design codes this American brand is loved for!
