NYFW Fall/Winter 2016 Day 1

It’s official! NYFW kicked off amidst chilly weather and sharp talents! Over the previous couple of days, up and coming designers like our own brand Feel Good Fur, presented their capsule or inaugural collections, and it’s time to see more that mix of emerging creatives with the established ones in the course of a super busy and extended week! Fashion writers like me, stretch their ears to listen to every single detail focusing of course their gazes to things with an innovative touch!image

The first show of the day was, as usual, that of designer duo Nicholas K, which was a reworking on their signature urban nomad styles. There was again much layering and asymmetry, interesting functional accessories, and hip leather pieces.

At the BCBG Max Azria show you could see the whole universe of this active and fun-loving girl, looking out for the convenience of quilts, layering, and fuss-free colors! Elements that are easy to mix and match, loose silhouettes, midi and maxi lengths are all iconic of the brand reflecting directly the aesthetics of its elegant creative director Lubov Azria.

Then KYE was really cool and hip with bright colors and motifs, hooded jackets, roomy sweaters, cozy textures and functional details! Track pants and sneakers but also some dressier versions of the sporty look will keep you active throughout the FW16 season!
At Jay Godfrey, you could see the woman who wants to seduce in a classy manner employing chic cut-outs, shiny or glossy textures and deep jewel tones. The forms totally reveal all your body assets! Hair was tied up into the messy ban of the moment and shoes – mostly quirky heeled booties – where extremely eye-catching!
Desigual had this signature colorful ethnic vibe, and an inspiration drawn from a set of historical metropolis across the world including Alexandria and Constantinople! Rich colors, warm brocades, layering and laid-back glamour were the collection’s many features tapping into an array of decades and origins! The collection’s aesthetic is a metaphor for the 21st century, visualized as a textured collage, where technology, trends and a global culture now are one.
I really enjoyed Marcel Ostertag’s show which was inspired by the life-giving force of water and its endless visual effects! The see-through vinyl skirts and coats were very refreshing and ideal for sheer protection on a rainy day! Then all the sparkly fringy pieces including skirts and sweaters, made for cool evening outfits that I crave to wear!
Hanley had again made the cultural trip that brings about varied inspirations and an array of warm colors such as brick red and mustard,  but she also incorporated lots of black and white that is easy to combine! Her muse for FW16 is chic, mysterious, eclectic, with a knack for motif-blocking! She loves polka dots, satin silks, juxtaposition of textures, slim fits, and sext knee-high boots!
Stay tuned for more!!!
