Kristian Lorén Spring/Summer 2022: A Season of Optimism

Kristian Lorén was founded by Brooklyn-based, Philadelphia-born fashion designer Kristian Lorén Lopez. Early in life, Lorén and her sister Sessilee put on fashion shows at home. Lorén dressed her sister in tablecloths and curtains and sent her down the ‘runway.’ Years later, the sisters continue to support and inspire each other, Sessilee a top model and Lorén a designer. After getting a degree in Fashion from FIT, Lorén wanted to learn all facets of the industry. She worked production, model management, and as an agent for Alek Wek and others, all while developing her brand. In 2018, Lorén was named one of Essence Magazine’s ‘Designers to Watch,’ and her looks featured in Essence’s Fashion House 2019. Sold in Bloomingdales, seen in magazines like Keen, Lucy’s, and Alice, and worn on the red carpet by Madison Rian, Shahadi Wright, Luvvie Ajayi, and Damaris Lewis, Kristian Lorén elevates everyday fashion as an outlet of self-expression and liberation.

For SS22, Lorén designed a vibrant and colorful collection to serve as a reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Inspired by her travels, she drew inspiration from the gem of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix. The crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, rolling green hills, and the colorful buildings of the Twin Cities, provided the perfect color inspiration for this tropical collection. This season, the Kristian Lorén brand partnered with other designers of color to highlight their products in the Kristian Lorén 2022 Spring/Summer look book. Lorén says, “I believe the more we partner and collaborate together, the stronger we are as a force to ignite more opportunities for designers of color.”

The lookbook features Coco & Breezy Eyewear from the famous identical twin disc jockeys and producers, Coco & Breezy. The jewelry for the collection is from We Dream in Colour and also from BR Designs. The Lorén team partnered with local establishments on location in St. Croix to film the lookbook and promotional video. “St. Croix is close to my heart, it is our hope to help generate tourism with our look book by giving credit to the island,” she explains.
