The 27th edition of the Picto Fashion Photography Awards, held at the iconic Palais Galliera – Paris’s Fashion Museum – on June 12th, 2025, marked a pivotal moment in the fashion photography landscape. Organized by the Picto Foundation as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Picto Laboratories, the prestigious award spotlighted boundary-pushing visual artists who are redefining the future of fashion imagery.

At the heart of this year’s edition was Arash Khaksari, winner of the Picto Fashion Photography Award 2025. Born in Tehran and now based in Paris, Khaksari captivated the jury with Symbiose, a photographic series featuring sustainable designs by Dasha Tsapenko. Crafted from biodegradable, living materials, the series explores the symbiotic relationship between fashion and the natural world. His work earned him a Leica SL3-S camera, a €2,000 exhibition production, and inclusion in the Palais Galliera’s public collections.

Jean Marques received the le19M Endowment for Fine Craft Photography for his compelling behind-the-scenes series Call Time. The Paris-based photographer’s raw, poetic depictions of backstage realities challenge idealized notions of fashion, revealing vulnerability and the humanity behind the runway glamour.

The Filippo Roversi Endowment, presented by legendary photographer Paolo Roversi, went to Steve Ney for his Our India series—a visual tribute to Ney’s Indian heritage that blends cultural authenticity with cinematic storytelling. His exploration of modern India, especially its women and hair culture, offers a nuanced counter-narrative to stereotypical portrayals.

Finally, the LGA Management / JANVIER Endowment honored Anna Leonte Loron for her series Women Are Hungry, a cross-media project celebrating women’s agency through food. Her work, infused with sensual minimalism, defies traditional beauty standards and celebrates the intimacy of everyday rituals.

With a distinguished jury led by stylist and host Daphné Bürki and composed of experts from fashion, art, and publishing—including Paolo Roversi, Lise de Martino, Omaima Salem, and Sylvie Lécallier—the 2025 edition reinforced the award’s global relevance and commitment to supporting creative voices.

Since its inception in 1998, the Picto Fashion Photography Award has championed emerging talents, acting as a launchpad for now-renowned image-makers. With institutional backing from le19M, Leica, LGA Management, and the Palais Galliera, it continues to foster a dialogue between photography and fashion, tradition and innovation.
