Fashionably Kicking Off US Open!

It’s true that we are all lately under the spell of wearing a Lacoste polo, a classic piece that got revamped to be worn not only on court but also outside sports spaces, combined with high-fashion separates and exquisite accessories. The crocodile for seasons now has been back on track as a logo that exudes youthfulness, coolness, and love for action. I often mix it with denim overalls but also with a girly full skirt and high-heel sandals. From Alexa Chung and Lana del Rey to an array of fashionistas and celebrities across the globe, this ‘pillar’ of the preppy look – made of breathable signature piqué fabric – is definitely making waves!

And the brand treats us with surprises all the time! Recently, Lacoste ambassador Murphy Jensen and friends joined CityParks Foundation to welcome hundreds of New Yorkers of all ages and talents to play tennis in a special clinic in Central Park to kick off US Open Championships.

Participants had the chance to learn from the pros on the game’s most integral shots: forehand, backhand, serve and volley, as well as compete for giveaways courtesy of Lacoste. Several of Lacoste’s star players attended including:  Timea Bacsinszky (#14), David Goffin (#15), Yung-Jan & Hao-Ching Chan (#16 & #26 in women’s doubles), Pablo Cuevas (#23), Jeremy Chardy (#37), Christina McHale (#59), Nicolas Mahut (#60), Denis Kudla (#75).  Béryl Lacoste Hamilton (granddaughter of René Lacoste and President of the LACOSTE Foundation) and Joëlle Grünberg, President & CEO of LACOSTE North America, welcomed the crowd.

CityParks Tennis presented by BNP Paribas, provides free tennis lessons to thousands of kids aged 6-16 each year in nearly 36 parks throughout the 5 boroughs, as well as opportunities such as free beginner lessons, tournaments, leagues, excellence programs and special events. Needless to say that Lacoste is the Official Apparel Sponsor of this institution. This is the coolest thing about playing tennis!

Love Lacoste!
