Christopher John Rogers Speaks of Authenticity!

A talented designer that proudly stood among the 2019 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists, is recently catching our attention with his original super-editorial creations. He loves color and dramatic shapes. His collections tap into fashion history in a very cool way.

From the endless tiered ruffles to his structured metallic suits, everything is completely eye-catching. He has recently dressed Michelle Obama during her ‘Becoming’ book tour evenings, and Whoopi Goldberg for a Garage Magazine photoshoot. He works with performers for their on-stage looks and his eclectic FW19 collection is just the second NYFW one in his ultra-promising career.

The 25-year-old designer’s studio is located in Brooklyn which further abides with the current ingredients for NYC coolness. As the designer puts it, the Fall 2019 collection is “serving you a Southern cotillion ball in Stonehenge illustrated by Theodor Seuss Geisel”.

Contrary to debutante balls that announce the official entrance of a young member into society, the cotillion balls are focusing on the educational part of this passage. These young adults are prepping for the ball. As for the illustrations of Dr Seuss, they were a great mix of humor, fantasy, surrealism, darkness and innocence at the same time. Looking at the Christopher’s runway looks you can easily see this mix of grandness, joy, and surrealism — an artistic spirit transcends it in the most refreshing way. Looking forward to his next one at the NYFW!
