The event definitely had a patriotic feel; and beyond that the collection included some very creative design ideas regarding sportswear, outerwear, and athleisure. On a rainy day, some bold basic colors and sharp lines lifted out spirits. There was even an orchestra dressing the experience with anthem-style tunes.

The ultra-talented emerging designer Christopher Lowman presented his latest collection from his eponymous label in at Jimmy in the James Hotel Soho, an elevator trip up from my room. It was definitely a packed NYFW event, people weating in line at the Ground floor lobby.

His highly successful inaugural collection, titled “Harvard Punk’d” – presented during NYFW Spring/Summer 2018 – received praise from media outlets including Vogue Paris, New York Times, Sportswear International, Cool Hunting, and more, so there was some well-deserved anticipation for the event.

Triumphantly titled The Glorious Olympics, Lowman’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection takes inspiration from the 1980’s Summer Olympics. Fusing street style with luxury fabrics in bold colors and patterns, The Glorious Olympics revamps looks from the official Olympics opening ceremonies of that decade, re-imagining it for the modern age by merging sophisticated, clean lines and silhouettes with a touch of edge. And featuring lambskin leathers mixed with neoprene, mixed media cow hides, golden tricot nylons, pullover’s, tracksuit; all in unique shapes and textures.
