NYFW Spring/Summer 2016 Day 5

It was by far one the least busy days of my fashion week experience this season, with a few but wonderful shows such as that of two extremely talented Korean designers – Kaal Eisuktae by Suk-tae Lee and Jarret by Ji-youn Lee – teaming up for the well-known Concept Korea show.

ss16_day5_1They both focused on enhanced Asian aesthetics that include layering, asymmetries, a neutral palette, clean-cut lines and whimsical details. The looks are stylish and functional with motifs and textures that grab attention without being loud and an emphasis on great tailoring. It’s urban and young, innocent and subtle, sometimes sharp and others very ethereal. Those are special clothes to wear on every occasion!

In between, I managed to visit my own Mecca of NYC-shopping, Bergdorf Goodman, to check designers’ latest and indulge into a nice dessert and chat with my best friend who happens to be an ultra elegant fashionista. I went through the iconic shoe floor and then met her at Chanel to continue our fashion saga and discuss more on the upcoming trends!

ss16_day5_2The exact opposite to the Korean show happened at Reem Acra where I saw a different version of the oriental spirit, one that is opulent, bold and dominating. The Lebanese designer charmed us with her amazing dresses and tunics all meant to be worn on memorable outings. Reem who is credited for some of the most glamorous red carpet looks, incorporated into this collection looks meant to be worn by modern princesses!

ss16_day5_3Then at Vivienne Tam – one of the great shows of the week – I could see a hipsterized Asian spirit that translated major folk images and symbols into cloths and accessories meant to be adopted by a young, active generation. Dragon motifs got funkier, forms were sportier, bomber jackets were layered over see-through tunics, patterns and colors were clashing artfully, and there was romanticism mixed with an unconventional attitude throughout the collection!

OMG, Love Fashion!
