For Spring/Summer 2014 Anna Sui – in her signature eclectic manner – mixed together cultural elements from Victorian England, Africa, and Indonesia to create an Haute hippie chic collection, wearable and mesmerizing at the same time. Attention to detail as well as the use of exquisite materials and techniques is always admirable in her collections. She borrows cultural elements but she’s never literal about them. It’s as if the painter mixes colors producing unexpected shades, hard to explain with words.

You can say a whole different story for each one of the prints, the accessories, and the little details on the looks. An array of references and hidden special meanings are behind every piece. Her body and mind travels a lot, and this is why she comes up with such a huge web of inspirations. But her greatest talent is to make – out of all these stimuli – one cohesive whole that people can understand or at least appreciate to the fullest. Her looks are always popular because they make people dream about things. They’re like exotic fairytales and unique narrations of modern-age pilgrimage. Anna’s flowing dresses, Balinese-inspired crowns, and gladiator sandals are truly part of a long trip of hers. Wearing one of those, you feel ready for the longest and most exciting summer vacations ever!!!
