The MB Fashion Week at NYC’s Lincoln Center started with the Nicholas K show, super grungy and chic, with lots of neutrals and layering. The couple’s famous dog did his usual stroll on the runway after the show. Next favorite was the Tadashi Shoji show, which sparkled the catwalk with femininity and sophistication. Once more the Japanese designer proved to be the master of lace and of color contradictions. His velvety silhouettes made me dream about old times and belle époque soirées. Then, at Candela’s presentation, I came across some fine examples of 30s glamour and texture juxtaposition. It was countryside finesse and vintage innocence enriched with modern-day techniques. Their accessories were equally adorable. Sergio Davila was very impressive too, with extensive use of leathers and shiny fabrics, while the always much anticipated Concept Korea was a super-production of creativity with many internationally established Korean designers, such as super-star Lie Sang Bong. Finally, it was time for men’s fashion, with the day’s finale, the Timo Weiland presentation, with many beautiful colors and smart motifs. Men need more prominence in this Fashion Week and some people are striving to achieve this the soonest possible with more shows and events.
